New Region / New Horses / New Season Settling into Region III with new horses and a new show season - WINTER, no less... for those familiar with Florida, winter is the primary show season and with its temperate climate during the winter months, Florida maximizes its season with shows every weekend. American Concours, Venice, opened the 2nd day of their 3-day show in torrential rain, thunder and lightening. The show was delayed and began at 10:30 AM with classes assigned to start at 8:00 am reassigned to the end of the day to run from 5:20 PM through 9:00 PM under lights... Jutta's mount, a 12-year old Dutch mare in her first recognized US show [imported from Holland at 7-years old], was introduced to US competition at 3rd level. Placing 5th and 4th in her classes, respectively, Medea Utopia earned her first Regional qualifying scores of the season at 3rd level, test 3. For an open-show debut, and less than two months in professional training with me, I am thrilled at her scores and her placement in the classes. The smallest class was 13 horses and no-one scratched for weather. After her stellar performance on Sunday morning, I elected to scratch her from her 4/1 class and go home to dry-out, Heinsohn said... but we'll be back next month! Medea is owned by Terri Smith of Texas. |
